About
HPRC is the Hayward Patients Resource Collective, a San Francisco Bay Area medical marijuana advocacy group that can trace its history back to the early 90s, when Jane Weirick founded Compassion On Wheels, one of the area’s first medical marijuana delivery services. Tragically and unexpectedly, Jane passed away in 2005. Her business partner Tom Lemos, along with a dedicated support staff, carry on Jane’s legacy of advocacy and compassionate care.
Things started shaping up in 2001, and from 2003 we operated a medical marijuana dispensary on Foothill Boulevard in Hayward, California. In 2007, the Hayward City Council forced us to close because our location would be too near the new movie theater on B & Foothill and not a good fit for other retail in the area (and for good measure, threatened our landlord with permit headaches unless he evicted us). Oddly, it would seem that this area of downtown Hayward has fewer open businesses since our walk-in dispensary was closed.
Since then, we have operated exclusively as a patient collective, delivering medical marijuana directly to hundreds of patients every week.
