Oakland city attorney: Legalize it!

By HPRC Delivers | May 18, 2010

Great editorial at Inside Bay Area (link) by Oakland City Attorney John Russo today about why we should end the prohibition against marijuana:

Like prohibition of alcohol in the last century, marijuana prohibition has empowered vast and violent criminal enterprises. The drug cartels that threaten the peace on our streets and weaken national security on our border get more than 60 percent of their revenue from marijuana sales in the U.S., according to federal authorities.

Money is the oxygen of these organizations. Our approach to fighting drug gangs has been like trying to put out a house fire with a watering can. Why not try shutting off the fire’s main oxygen supply?

The financial and human costs of enforcing prohibition are enormous. While we criminalize thousands of Californians for low-level marijuana offenses, police departments lack resources to solve and stop major crimes. More than 61,000 people were arrested in California for misdemeanor marijuana possession in 2008. That same year, about 60,000 violent crimes went unsolved statewide.

And just imagine what would be able to do with the estimated $1.4 billion in tax revenue from legal marijuana sales in this state.

It’s amazing that some local cities, such as Hayward, prefer to be regressive on the matter, but I guess you gotta do what your donors pay you to do, isn’t that right, Kevin Dowling? (For those who haven’t been following along, as a Hayward city council member, Dowling was in support of medical marijuana until he decided that being against it would further his career. Small wonder our votes for Alameda County Supervisor are going to Nadia Lockyer.)

Yes we MediCann!

By HPRC Delivers | April 22, 2010

Our patients are our most valuable resource for improving our services, and one of the most consistent feedback items we have heard is that you wish we accepted a wider range of caregiver recommendations.

We couldn’t agree more, which is why, effective immediately, your MediCann recommendation is accepted. The first time you order, we will require a copy of that recommendation to verify your eligibility for that and future orders.

Thanks to all for providing us with valuable feedback to make our delivery service more convenient for all!

Phones were down, now they’re up

Yes, you CAN always get what you want

By HPRC Delivers | April 12, 2010

I’m sure by now you’re used to our posts on how much easier and convenient it is to order on rainy days. You probably came here today because you saw it mentioned on one of our ads. And it’s true: If someone can deliver something to you why leave the comfort of your home?

Here’s a sunny-day thought for you: When you go to a store, how do you know that they’re going to have what you want in stock? Call them? Well, sure, you can try that and hope that you’re getting an honest answer and not the whatever it takes to get you off the phone answer. I know that’s happened to most of us at least once, and isn’t it fun to get in your car, deal with stupid people on the road, finding parking and so on just to find out that what you wanted hasn’t graced the shelves in weeks? Of course it’s not fun, and when it’s your medication, it’s just downright unpleasant.

Or you could just call us (see the numbers up top) or fill out our contact form and talk with our expert representatives, who know every single last drop, crumb, bud and whatever else we have in stock up to the very second, then place your order secure in the comfort of knowing that you’re going to get exactly what you wanted delivered direct to your door.

I know which method I’d choose, but of course I’m biased. :)

What happens when a dispensary is shuttered?

By HPRC Delivers | March 24, 2010

Have you given a thought as to what happens to your private patient information when a club is forced out of business? Do you know how your information was stored in the first place? When it’s no longer needed, where does it go? If the club is shut down by law enforcement, who gets to see your private data when they seize the computers?

HPRC Delivers safeguard your privacy by collecting only the information needed to process your order, ensuring that information is only seen by the individuals processing your request, and retaining it only as needed to deliver your order.

Patients know they can trust HPRC, it’s why we’ve been around for as long as we have.

I told you we were awesome

By HPRC Delivers | February 16, 2010

I could spend countless words telling you how great we are (and I think I have), but here’s what a patient recently told us:

Can’t tell you how much I appreciate the delivery and honest business. There are days I just don’t feel good and can’t get out. Your selections are usually great and I’m always satisfied. Roni suggesting what I might like is a major benefit too.

I just wanted to thank you for doing such a great job in servicing those of us that really need your kind of help. I understand there’s a new shop in old Newark. Two of my friends have been trying to get me to go. WHY? I have the best service already.

Can’t add anything to that, the truth needs no embellishment. Thanks for the note, Kurt!

OMG WEATHER: Avoid it with HPRC Delivery!

By HPRC Delivers | January 19, 2010

The weather for the next week or two is going to be dreadful. If we had a choice between slogging through all that wind and rain or sitting at home in front of a fire (or glowing monitor, or TV set, or whatever) we know what we’d choose.

So go ahead. Do just that. Leave the delivery to HPRC. We’re standing by every day between 11am and 5pm to take your call at the numbers in the top left-hand corner of the page.

Our prices are better than most dispensaries, so is our product, and you don’t have to deal with the dispensary experience, if you know what we mean. Why get gouged and grossed out when you can get your medication delivered to you safely, promptly and discreetly in the privacy of your own home? And best of all, you won’t get wet.

CITY HALL MEETING THIS TUESDAY – IMPORTANT!

By HPRC Delivers | January 14, 2010

NOW IS THE TIME!

Hayward residents and those in surrounding communities haven’t had access to a legal, safe dispensary since 2007. It’s time to let the Hayward City Council know that needs to change. But change can’t happen on its own. WE need to be there to let the Council know we need this and want this. Who is we? We is us. And us is you.

What: Hayward City Council Meeting
Where: Council Chambers, City Hall, 777 B St (at Watkins), next to the Hayward BART station.
When: Tuesday, January 19, 7:00pm

NOW IS THE TIME!

This Tuesday the Council will be discussing its legislative priorities for 2010. If we want to make establishing medical marijuana clinics in Hayward a priority, this Tuesday is the time to make your voice heard!

Hayward residents — please attend. Bring your friends and family out to show support for this initiative and speak out during the public comment period. Tell the Council why we need a Hayward clinic, and why it’s needed now. Consider telling them why you don’t want to go to the county or into Oakland — travel is a legitimate hardship for many seriously ill patients.

Those outside the city, it would be great if you showed up in numbers to show the council you support city residents.

See you there!
